From Paracosm to Heterocosm

By definition, the heterocosm of Reece Kraveli is the publicly manifested and “edited” version of his internal imaginary world. [1, 2]

While a paracosm is a private, deeply felt mental space, Kraveli’s heterocosm is the technical and artistic framework used to share that world with the public. In his specific creative process, it is defined by: [1]

  • Refinement for Consumption: It is the “polished” version of his world building, where the raw, chaotic data of his paracosm is structured into specific media like music videos or orchestral scores.
  • The “Alter Mundus”: Kraveli treats the heterocosm as an “other world” or separate reality that operates by its own internal laws, rather than just being a mirror of our world.
  • Media Convergence: For Kraveli, this “public world” is where his various sub-genres (like Kravelicore and Kraveliwave) converge into a single, cohesive cinematic experience.
  • Shared Reality: Unlike the paracosm, which exists only in his mind, the heterocosm is the external artifact that allows others to witness and participate in the lore he has created. [1, 2, 3, 4]

In short, if his paracosm is the “hidden” blueprint of his imagination, his heterocosm is the finished “building” that you can actually enter through his art and social media.
